On Jan. 21, police charged a man in connection to a robbery of a Church Hill bank that occurred in December of last year. According to the Queen Anne county sheriff's office, a 35-year-old man was charged with felony robbery and taken into police custody without incident. A search and seizure warrant executed on the man's residence led to additional charges of ownership of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 19-year-old man remains in custody at St. Mary's County Detention Center after possibly witnessing a fatal drug overdose. Investigators at the scene allegedly found the man to be in possession of prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia. Though the details of his charges are unclear, reports indicate that the man was charged with a drug crime.
A man who is facing charges in connection with an August assault on a Maryland state delegate pleaded guilty on Jan. 10 to one count of drug possession. According to a police report, the man, who is the delegate's neighbor, allegedly assaulted the delegate by hitting him, pushing him into a pier and commanding his large bulldog to attack the delegate. The delegate's account of the Aug. 18 assault has been verified by two witnesses. The delegate says that he escaped the attack by swimming underneath the piers of several neighbors.
A 48-year-old woman was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis following a confrontation with police. After being reported for attempting to shoot her boyfriend, a judge said that the woman was a danger to herself and other people. She has been charged with attempted murder, firearm possession with a felony conviction, assault and failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order.
In January 2013, a man from Chaptico was taken into police custody for allegedly firing a gun at his sister's home. The 53-year-old local ended up spending almost a year in jail before going to trial for reckless endangerment and a felony charge of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
A 33-year-old Chestertown man was taken into custody in Smyrna, Del. on Dec. 19 for warrants out of Queen Anne's County and Delaware. He was also allegedly involved in armed robberies at a pizza chain and a convenience store in Chestertown during the month of November. He faces 18 new charges, including theft, robbery, armed robbery, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, first- and second-degree assault and more.
